If a person was bitten or scratched by a bat (or you cannot rule out this possibility), call the Alberta rabies hotline (1-844-427-6847) or Health Link (8-1-1) for assessment (do this soon after exposure). For bites to pets, contact your veterinarian. For injured bats needing immediate assistance, contact a wildlife rehabilitation centre.
